Unshackling Grace: How We Limit the Limitless

Psalm 78:41
Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. Psalm 78:41

It sounds impossible: how can finite people limit an almighty God? But it is possible. Psalm 78 shows us that God’s blessesings where withheld from the Isrealites in the wilderness due to their doubts, stubborness, and disobedience.

God gives us genuine free will, which means He won't force His blessing on us. When we choose sin or self-reliance, we don't lessen His power, we just close the door to it. We put up a barrier to the very transformation He wants to bring.

The sobering truth is that our choices don't just affect us:

In our lives: Sin stalls the peace, growth, and purpose God has planned for us.

In others' lives: God often works through us. Holding onto bitterness, disobedience, or pride can block the encouragement, love, or help God intended to deliver to someone else through your life.

God’s power is infinite, but His work through you requires a heart willing to yield. When we turn back to Him, the barriers drop, and His grace flows freely again.

Prayer:

Lord, forgive me for the times my doubt or sin has held back Your work. Search my heart and clear away anything standing in the way of Your plan for me and through me to others. ~ In Jesus Name, Amen.
